Last Day in the U.S.

Today all of the interns working in the Dominican Republic and Austin met at the Makarios office to go through an orientation. The orientation took a few hours and it was so enjoyable getting to know everyone and hearing their testimonies. We spent the day talking about the history of Makarios along with what their goals and plans are for the next few years. I learned so much more about what Makarios is all about and what they have done to serve the community over the years. One story that really touched me was about an intern Makarios had 10 years ago. This single intern moved the kids in that community so much that more programs were made throughout the school. This story touched me because I want to be able to do the same. I want to have a lasting impact on the people in this area that will last years after my internship is over. I want to be able to serve the Lord so well that he uses me to make a difference in the people I interact with.

After a day full of meaningful conversations and games, me, Colin, my dad, and the Wickstrands spent our evening at BJs for pazookies and lots of laughs! Not to mention we introduced Mrs. Jackie to snapchat filters and she quotes, “I’m an attractive guy!!” HA! Anyways, after dinner we spent the last few hours of the day hanging out in the hotel room and enjoying each others company (and air conditioning). I’m praying a lot for this trip because I’m a little nervous and extremely excited. However, I know God is going to do amazing things through our group this summer and I am looking forward to all of the adventures God has planned for us! Next stop, the Dominican Republic!!
